Becki Moffett-Moore
Moffett Mugs & More
Becki grew up in South Bend, Indiana and now lives in Portage, Michigan. She received a BFA from Indiana State University with a major in Graphic Design and a MA in Ceramics from Governors State University. There she had the opportunity to experiment with saggar, raku, low fire, mold making, extrusion, terra sigiliata slips, majolica and Egyptian paste. Every experience has been an adventure in the never ending possibilities of creating with clay.
Becki presently works primarily with slab construction. After texturing the rolled clay she embellishes it with a variety of textures gathered from household items, rubber stamps, letter and shape templates, screws, bolts, gears, fabric, sticks, leaves, toys, lace, found objects, etc.
Most of her vessels are mid range fire stoneware: making them functional and safe for baking and microwaving. They are dishwasher safe…and yes you can eat off of them. No two pieces are alike. Each is a unique functional piece of art.
Becki has received regional recognition for her clay sculptures and participated in ARTPRIZE 2013. She leads clay art retreats as a member of MoonTree Community, an “art – spirit - nature” ministry at the Center in Donaldson, Indiana. And she loves to fish!
